Book Spotlight: The Love of My Afterlife

Paranormal romances are becoming more popular lately, and I’m feeling increasingly excited to start diving into more of them! Besides the romances about vampires and werewolves, I’m also interested in the ones that play with space and time. That’s why The Love of My Afterlife, the debut novel by Kirsty Greenwood, looks especially appealing to me. A woman just died and meets her soul mate in the afterlife waiting room. Cute! But… they’re dead. Sad. On the bright side, she suddenly has a second chance at life, but only if she can find this soul mate back on earth before ten days have passed. No pressure!

So that plot is all kinds of “yes!” for me. On the one hand, this book has been compared to the show The Good Place, which I loved from start to finish. It’s also an interesting interplay between the morbid and the fun. Who doesn’t want to see people get a second shot at love and at life? The Love of My Afterlife sounds like the kind of fantasy/sci-fi romances that I’ve been collecting and meaning to read lately, like The Dead Romantics, The Good Part, or The Impossible Us. This new release seems like the perfect summer read and the ideal way to kick off my foray into these kinds of paranormal romances.

Find out more about The Love of My Afterlife below, and let me know if you’re planning to pick it up. If you’ve already read it, let me know how you liked it in the comments! I’m hoping to read this book soon, so stay tuned for my review.

Official Summary

“This book has it all. Humor, heart, and a heroine I was desperately rooting for. Kirsty Greenwood has a new fan!”
—Colleen Hoover, New York Times bestselling author

A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on earth before ten days are up…

If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.

As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.

When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind…
